Datacenter united raises additional capital and acquires the data centres of Proximus

Datacenter United brings new shareholder on board

In addition to existing shareholders TINC, the infrastructure investor listed on Euronext Brussels and founder-CEO Friso Haringsma, Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited ('CORD' has joined as a shareholder of Datacenter United. Cordiant Digital Infrastructure is an operationally focused investor specializing in digital infrastructure, managed by Cordiant Capital. Since 2021, Cordiant Digital Infrastructure Limited (CDIL) has been listed on the London Stock Exchange. This partnership strengthens the growth potential of Datacenter United in the ever-growing data centre market.

Acquisition of Proximus' Belgian data centres

Thanks to the pooling of expertise and investment resources, Datacenter United strengthens its position and striking power in the consolidating Belgian data centre market. This immediately results in the next step in the buy-and-build story, the acquisition by Datacenter United of Proximus' data centres for an enterprise value of €128 million (in Evere, Mechelen and Machelen (B)). The data centre in Evere is the only commercial data centre in the Brussels-Capital Region offering colocation services. This acquisition also partially includes the real estate, and Proximus will remain a customer for at least 10 years, ensuring long-term stability of revenues.

Groundbreaking transactions for Datacenter United

These transactions are groundbreaking for both Datacenter United and the Belgian data centre market. It means a significant presence for Datacenter United in the Brussels area and further expanding its presence in Belgium, giving Datacenter United a leading role in the Belgian digital infrastructure market. Upon completion of the transaction, the combined Datacenter United group will have 13 datacenters.

With a strong balance sheet and ambitious shareholders, Datacenter United is in an excellent position to explore consolidation opportunities and expand its customer base from collocation to hyperscale solutions.

The entry by CORD and the acquisition of the Proximus data centres are subject to terms and conditions including approval by competition authorities. Completion of the transaction is expected in Q1 2025.

“With this partnership with Proximus, we underscore our solid position as a leading data center group in Belgium. The collaboration between Proximus and Datacenter United—both with a strong, professional, and ambitious focus on the digital world—forms an exceptionally powerful and valuable partnership. Furthermore, this strengthens our presence around Brussels, bringing our total to 13 high-quality data centers strategically located throughout Belgium. This makes Datacenter United the ideal partner as the foundation for the rapidly developing digital future.” – Friso Haringsma, CEO Datacenter United

“The decision to cooperate with an external partner on our datacenter housing and infrastructure business is a key milestone in our asset divestment plan. By partnering with Datacenter United, we ensure that Proximus and our customers will continue to benefit from state-of-the-art infrastructure while we concentrate on delivering excellent IT integration services. I look forward to working with Datacenter United, a strong Belgian specialist in datacenter operations, and I’m confident that they will create important value for Proximus and for our customers.” – Guillaume Boutin, CEO of Proximus
