To support our growth and strengthen our Finance, Administration and Legal team, we are looking for a Financial Controller for our Antwerp office. At least 1 day a week you will be present at the office in Oostkamp.

Job Description

As Financial Controller, you bear full responsibility for the accounting, consolidation, reporting and controlling of 7 Belgian companies.

You manage a team of 2 employees and report directly to the CFO. You will be assisted by an external accounting firm regarding closing, reporting, VAT and corporate taxes.

  • You are responsible for the monthly and annual closing of the statutory accounts.
  • You ensure the quality of the accounting and statutory reporting and check the entries performed by colleagues, responsible for sales invoices, banks and debtor follow-up. You take care of incoming invoices, miscellaneous entries and closure yourself, supported by the external accounting firm.
  •  You provide financial and tax advice and participate in tax audits and liaise with the tax administration and external tax advisors.
  • You ensure the preparation of VAT returns, intrastat returns, corporate tax returns, monthly and annual closings, income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements together with the external accounting firm.
  • You translate the strategic objectives into budgets, forecasts and long-term business plans together with the CFO.
  • You monitor the results during the year and together with the CFO prepare the management reporting, where the differences with the budgets and forecasts can be reported, analyzed and adjusted in a timely manner.
  • You prepare the meetings with the auditors and take an active and coordinating role during the audit with the company auditor.
  • You prepare insightful dashboards with relevant operational and financial KPIs.
  • You participate in the improvement and control of accounting and operational processes.
  • You report and analyze the analytical accounting and help monitor cost prices and the profitability of investments.
  • You are jointly responsible for the optimal use of working capital, debtor follow-up and cash flow planning.

 

 

Profile

Our ideal colleague fits the description below:

  • You hold a Master or Bachelor degree in Accountancy (& Taxation) and can present a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience as chief accountant, finance manager or financial controller in a corporate environment or as a file manager in an external accounting firm.
  • Experience at one of the Big 4 audit firms or as a controller in a multi-company group is a plus.
  • Pronounced proficiency in Excel and extensive experience with accounting packages such as Exact Online is desirable.
  • Experience with Teamleader, consolidation, analytical accounting, PowerBi and IFRS is a plus.
  • In addition to Dutch as your native language, you also speak English fluently. Knowledge of French is a plus.
  • A good analytical insight, logical thinking and accuracy characterize you.
  • As a real people manager, you know how to motivate your team and take them to the next level.
  • You know how to keep a cool head at busy times, but you also know how to handle changes in a positive way.
  • You are a positive team player who can also work independently.
  • You have a proactive work attitude, working in a result-oriented way, but with an eye for detail and deadlines.

 

Place of employment

You will be based at our headquarters in Antwerp. A few times a month you will also be in our office in Oostkamp and in our office in Evere for consultations. You can also work from home on a limited basis.
